The Craft Café story

“Wouldn’t it be great if we could have a Craft Club’ these were the words spoken by one or two people to Sheila Greenwood just over a year ago, and so in March 2012 Craft Club was established.  The Craft group was fun, and God blessed it beyond all expectations.  The work produced by members from this club has been able to raise money for a particular charity, ‘Life Now.’  For personal reasons Sheila's involvement with Craft Club had to be put on hold for a few months, but during her absence the club flourished....there is a lesson in there somewhere!

On returning from a trip to Australia in autumn, and learning how successful they had been, Sheila had the idea that God was saying do more of the same.  In early December 2012 the idea of being able to sell goods at the then Tuesday Café was born. However there was one snag....Sheila discovered that Tuesday Café was closing.  Hopes were dashed...... but not for long.  As Christians know, Gods’ plans will not be thwarted and develop in ways never imagined.

So in January 2013, Sheila began to explore with Craft Club members the idea of opening up a craft café where they might sell their crafts, and possibly run some workshops.  Totally out of the blue, one group member, Laura, told Sheila afterwards that she had been exploring outlets in Chester to sell her work, and when they were chatting it was obvious to them that God was confirming that they needed to explore the idea of Craft Café further.  With the go ahead from the PCC, and with a lot of help and encouragement from many people, two months on, Craft Café was born.
